The Center presents writing courses, workshops and a reading circle. The Creative Writing Program offers workshops in fiction, non-fiction, poetry, journalistic. Course emphasizes research, writing, and discussion of creative processes of successful writers, among them Lawrence, Flaubert, Hurston, Wright, Selby, Joyce, and Burroughs, who have been forced to confront directly forms of censorship or marginalization. Course offers a fresh approach to conception and writing of science fiction, with a current overview of the state of the field and techniques. The Readings in Nonfiction Literature class is designed to explore a variety of subjects in nonfiction, and topics of classes offered might include readings in the essay, twentieth century nonfiction, feminist readings in nonfiction, queer nonfiction, graphic novel memoirs, single or double author courses Baldwin's Essays, or Montaigne and Baconetc. The last third of the class will be devoted to student workshops, where Creative Writing college science classes student will turn in a draft of a story or chapter to be read and critiqued by the whole class. The class will change from semester to semester. By examining fiction, poetry, non-fiction, film, television, Creative Writing college science classes, theatre, music, and new media, students will identify universal narrative elements and determine the ways these universal narrative elements frame basic human experiences. Rhyme, and its almost necessary companion, meter, have found their way into almost every form of expressive language, low and high: from sonnets to limericks, quatrains to playground insults, plays to songs, mnemonic devices for school children to didactic sermons, raps to jingles—even the occasional novel.
